Fatal Crash Investigation

On March 27, 2026, at approximately 6:53 p.m., the Downers Grove Police Department responded to a report of a traffic crash involving two vehicles at the intersection of Highland Avenue and 35th Street.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle attempting to turn north on Highland Ave. from eastbound 35th Street was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Highland Ave.
The driver of the turning vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger of the vehicle was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced deceased. The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries.
The crash is under investigation by the Downers Grove Police Department and the DuPage M.E.R.I.T. Major Crash Reconstruction Team. The identity of the victims is being withheld pending the notification of family members.
