Holiday Garbage Collection

Thursday, December 25, 2025, and Thursday, January 1, 2026, are holidays for Republic Services. Collection will be one day later the remainder of the week.


Christmas Tree Collection


  1. CURBSIDE CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION: Free collection of live Christmas trees only, will be offered by Republic Services from January 5-16, 2026. Trees must be free of tinsel, ornaments and hooks and should not be placed in bags.


  1. The Downers Grove Park District offers recycling of live Christmas trees December 26 through January 12, 2026. Trees may be dropped off at two park locations:
  2. McCollum Park, 6801 S. Main St.
  3. Whitlock Park, 40th & Fairview
