Bitter Cold and Dangerous Wind Chills

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for our area from 6:00 p.m. Saturday, January 24, 2026 until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, January 25.
Total snow accumulations between 2 and 5 inches are expected. Bitterly cold temperatures with wind chills ranging from 20 to 30 below will persist through the weekend.
WARMING CENTERS
Residents in need of shelter due to extreme cold can call 911 to request sheltering assistance. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Transportation to a warming center will be provided if needed.
The following warming centers are available, daily:
- Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St. 630.960.1200. Hours: M-F 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Sat, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sun, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Main Street Train Station, 5001 Main St. Open throughout the night.
- List of warming centers in DuPage County. Please be sure to call a warming center before going to one, as some are only open during emergencies, such as large-scale power outages.
