Village Council 2025 Tax Levy Public Hearing

NOTICE OF PROPOSED PROPERTY TAX INCREASE FOR THE VILLAGE OF DOWNERS GROVE

I. A public hearing to approve a proposed property tax levy for the Village of Downers Grove for 2025 will be held on the 18th day of November 2025, at 7:00 p.m. in the Betty Cheever Council Chambers, Village of Downers Grove Civic Center, 850 Curtiss Street, Downers Grove, Illinois 60515. Any person desiring to appear at the public hearing and present testimony to the taxing district may contact Ms. Robin Lahey, Village Treasurer, 850 Curtiss Street, Downers Grove, Illinois 60515.

II. The corporate and special purpose property taxes extended or abated for the preceding year, 2024 were $24,539,976. The proposed corporate and special purpose property taxes to be levied for 2025 are $26,004,191.This represents a 5.97% increase from the previous year.

III. The property taxes extended for debt service for 2024 were $0.The estimated property taxes to be levied for debt service for 2025 are $6,746,328. Consistent with previous years, staff was directed to prepare ordinances abating $6,746,328 of the 2025 amount for a levy of $0 for debt which is equal to the previous year.

IV. The total property taxes extended or abated for 2024 were $24,539,976.The estimated total property taxes to be levied for 2025 are $32,750,519.This represents a 33.46% increase over the previous year.Including the debt service abatements the actual levy for 2025 will be $26,004,191 which represents an increase of 5.97% from the previous year.
