The Proposed Fiscal Year 2026 Budget is ready for review. The budget will be reviewed through multiple open and public meetings involving residents, Village Council, and staff. We invite you to join the budget discussions during Village Council meetings, starting November 4, 2025.

The budget serves as the Village’s annual plan to implement its strategic goals, aligning operations with priorities from the Long Range Plan and Guiding DG Plans. It upholds the goal of being a Steward of Financial, Environmental, and Neighborhood Sustainability.

In keeping with these goals, the Proposed FY26 Budget is sustainable with a balanced general fund. The fund balance is budgeted to be maintained at $25.8 million, approximately 39% of annual expenses, an amount consistent with S&P’s guidelines to maintain the Village’s AAA bond rating.

Here are several key points:

  1. Sustainable General Fund: Revenues of $66.8 million and expenses of $66.5 million.
  2. Total Property Tax Levy Increase of 2.5%: The amount the owner of a typical residential property pays to the Village in property taxes will be approximately $808, about $20 more than this year.
  3. Increase in Home Rule Sales Tax and Hotel Tax Rates: These increases were recommended in the Long Range Plan and recently approved by the Village Council.
  4. Home Rule Sales Tax (HRST) increases from 1.0% to 1.5%, generating $4.4 million in new revenue.
  5. Hotel Tax increases from 4.5%to 5.5%, adding $200,000 to the General Fund.
  6. $36.2 Million Investment in Infrastructure: The investment includes: $8.8M in streets, $8.8M in water, $5.4M in stormwater, $2.8M in traffic systems, $6.3M in sidewalks, $0.8M in parking, $1.0M in Village facilities maintenance, and $1.7M in fuel system upgrades

$14.5 Million for Implementation of Guiding DG Plans and Priority Action Items: Over $14 million is included in the budget across multiple funds to further Guiding DG recommendations and the Priority Action Items identified in the Long Range Plan.
