The Village continues the process of removing tree debris from public property as a result of storms on August 17.

The Village and two contracted tree companies will continue clearing tree debris from blocked sidewalks, streets and parkways.

The Village is responsible for the removal of fallen branches and debris from trees located on Village property.

Property owners are responsible for trees on their private property, including removal of debris as the result of storms.

If you experienced private property tree damage, here’s how to dispose of tree debris using the Village’s curbside yard waste collection program: Brush and tree branches may not exceed 4 feet in length and 5 inches in diameter and must be bundled together with jute twine or uncoated string.

  1. Bundles may not exceed 2 feet in diameter, 4 feet in length and 50 pounds. 
  2. Each bundle requires a yard waste sticker. Stickers can be purchased at the Civic Center, 850 Curtiss Street, area Jewel-Osco stores, Ace Hardware, Wannemakers or Walgreens in Downers Grove.
