Metronet is ready to begin construction of their 100% fiber optic network in Downers Grove.
Approved by the Village Council at the May 6, 2025 meeting, Metronet will soon begin construction of their 100% fiber optic network in Downers Grove.
Residents can expect to see construction teams in and around neighborhoods completing both aerial and underground work. Metronet team member uniforms and vehicles are clearly marked with the Metronet logo, making them easy to identify.
Existing infrastructure on overhead poles or underground utilities will be used to install the network, minimizing neighborhood disruptions. Also, Metronet uses advanced drilling machines to bury the fiber cables upon installation- no waiting for cables to be buried at a later date.
