Water Service Line Inventory

In October 2023, the Village surveyed Downers Grove residents to identify homes with lead water service lines.

As a requirement of the State of Illinois’ Lead Service Replacement and Notification Act, a draft report and a lead service line inventory was published in April 2024. This inventory must be updated annually, with the goal of identifying the materials of all water service lines in the Village.

At this time, door hangers are being issued to properties where the water service line material is still unknown. 

What should I do if I receive a door hanger?

Should you receive a RESPONSE NEEDED door hanger like the one pictured, please scan the QR code and complete the survey as soon as possible. It takes about 10 minutes and will guide you in locating your service line and identifying its material.

Completing the survey is the quickest and easiest way to provide this information—no appointment or home visit needed.

What if I’m not able to perform the necessary actions to answer the survey questions?

Please contact Gabe Lopez at Public Works, 630.434.5489 to schedule an in-home service line inspection performed by Public Works, at no cost to you. 

What if I do not respond to the door hanger/survey?

The Village will follow-up with an ACTION NEEDED door hanger, requiring an in-home service line inspection, by appointment.
