Frigid Weather Ahead

The National Weather Service expects bitterly cold temperatures to arrive Saturday night through Tuesday night! The coldest conditions will be Sunday and Monday nights with wind chills of -15 to -25 F. Frostbite is possible within about 30 minutes in these conditions!

WARMING CENTERS 

Residents in need of shelter due to extreme cold can call 911 to request sheltering assistance. This service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Transportation to a warming center will be provided if needed.

The following warming centers are available, daily:

• Downers Grove Public Library, 1050 Curtiss St. 630.960.1200 Hours: M-F 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.; Sat, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Sun, 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
• Main Street Train Station, 5001 Main St. Open throughout the night.
• List of warming centers in DuPage County. Please be sure to call a warming center before going to one, as some are only open during emergencies, such as large-scale power outages.
• Please be sure to check on friends and neighbors who may need assistance.
