75th St Water Main Improvements

Project Summary

The project will consist of water main replacement on 75th Street from Fairview Avenue to Knottingham Lane. Work will also include patching of the existing roadway where the new water main will be installed, curb removal in select locations, and restoration.

LATEST UPDATE

May 1, 2026

Contractor completed site restoration work on 4/29 and will perform regular watering of sod for the next 30 days.

PAST UPDATES

April 24, 2026

The contractor will begin site restoration work on Friday 4/24, and expects to finish this work in approximately one week.



April 17, 2026

  1. AT&T completed their portion of the site restoration along 75th Street east of Florence Avenue.
  2. The contractor is currently scheduled to begin their final restoration work on Wednesday April 22nd and they hope to be complete by the end of the week if the weather is good.




April 10, 2026

Site restoration work is scheduled to commence on Tuesday April 14th.



March 20, 2026

  1. The final stabiliization of the site was not possible due to the onset of cold weather at Thanksgiving, so the site was temprarily stabilized to prevent erosion over the winter.
  2. We are currently in communication with the contractor to schedule the permanent site restoration of the disturbed areas now that the winter weather has broken and construction activities will soon be starting up.


November 21, 2025

Contractor will be making final watermain connections and testing on 11/20 and 11/21. Curb and gutter replacement, pavement repair and site restoration planned for 11/24-11/26.



November 14, 2025

Contractor will be returning to work on 11/14 to make final watermain connections and begin pavement patching and re-surfacing.



October 31, 2025

  1. The cast in place lining work has begun. The contractor completed the excavation of the access pits that will be used to install the new watermain lining.
  2. The lining sub contractor began cleaning the existing watermain on Thursday 10/30 and is expected to complete this work on 10/31. The sub contractor is scheduled to collect video of the cleaned watermain on Friday 10/31 to confirm that the interior of the existing pipe is in a condition that will allow the new line to adhere to the existing pipe surface.
  3. The installation of the liner is scheduled for the week of 11/1.




October 17, 2025

  1. The IEPA granted a verbal go-ahead on Wednesday 10/15 to put the newly installed watermain into service. The contractor is expected to be back onsite Tuesday to connect new service lines and perform some exploratory excavation work in advance of phase two of the project.
  2. Work on the second phase of the project is expected to begin late next week and involves lining the existing watermain along the south side of 75th Street.




October 10, 2025

  1. The new watermain installation is complete except for the last two connections to the existing watermain at Frontage/Forest and near the Queens Ct. sidewalk.
  2. The new watermain passed the pressure test and we are currently awaiting the results of the chlorination test prior to IEPA approval to make the final connections. Final connections should occur the week of 10/13.
  3. The second phase of the project involves lining the existing main which is expected to begin later in the week of 10/13.




September 26, 2025

  1. The new watermain connection at Fairview Ave and 75th St is complete and the watermain under Fairview Ave has been installed.
  2. Watermain installation in the Frontage Road ROW is proceeding to the east.




September 12, 2025

  1. The contractor will be mobilizing equipment and material to begin work installing new watermain along the Florence Avenue frontage road, starting near Fairview Avenue the week of 9/15.
  2. Traffic control and erosion control should be set up early that week, with saw cutting of the pavement to begin as well.




August 1, 2025

The contractor plans to begin traffic control installation the week of 8/4, as well as erosion control installation and any necessary tree protection fencing.



July 11, 2025

A preconstruction meeting is scheduled for 7/22, at which time the contractor will provide an estimation of schedule/timing for the work.



June 27, 2025

Bids were opened on 6/25/25. The project is expected to go before the Village Council on 7/8/25 & 7/15/25, and construction is expected to begin in early to mid August.



June 20, 2025

The project was advertised on 6/11 with the bid opening scheduled on 6/25. Construction is expected to begin in August.
