Neighborhood Resurfacing

This work is an annual program which consists of resurfacing a number of neighborhood streets in town. This includes spot-repair of curb, sidewalk replacement for ADA compliance, grinding the existing top layer of asphalt, pavement patching as needed, and two new layers of asphalt with adjustments to utility structures as needed. This also includes parkway restoration in disturbed areas and new pavement striping.


All concrete work is weather permitting.

LATEST UPDATE

October 17, 2025

  1. The contractor is expected to complete sod repair towards the end of the week of October 20th. It is the contractor's responsibility to ensure that sod establishes in a live, growing condition prior to project closeout.
  2. Final landscape inspection/repairs will follow in the next 30 days to close out the work for this project.

September 12, 2025

The contractor prepped areas for sod repair. Once the weather permits, they will place sod in these areas. This is subject to heat and rain in the forecast.



August 29, 2025

The contractor is planning to do sod repairs the week of September 5th. This work is weather dependent and subject to change depending on rain or heat in the forecast.



August 1, 2025

The contractor is continuing punch list activities. Sod repairs are expected to take place in mid-to-late September based on temperatures.



July 25, 2025

  1. Striping has been completed and the Temporary Construction Signs will be removed. Contractor will return in the next week or two for clean-up and punch list activities.
  2. Sod repairs are expected to take place in mid-to-late September based on temperatures.




July 18, 2025

  1. Due to the time of year and weather, the contractor has placed seed & blanket over the yet to be sodded areas. Any areas that the seed does not take by September will be replaced with sod once weather complies.
  2. Striping is scheduled for beginning to middle of the week of July 21st. Once that is complete, the contractor will be removing any remaining temporary construction signage.
  3. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.




July 11, 2025

  1. The contractor has completed paving throughout the project.
  2. The contractor will be placing shoulder stone on Fairmount (between 63rd and 65th) and Grand (between 61st and 63rd) the week of July 14th.

July 4, 2025

  1. The paving contractor was delayed in paving the second and final lift of asphalt on Barrett, Andrus, Grace, Lamb, and Crystal. That paving will occur at the beginning of the week of July 7th.
  2. On Grand, Osage, 60th and 62nd , the structure lids that were removed from the pavement will be placed back into the pavement at the beginning of the week of July 7th. The paving contractor will be paving the second and final lift of asphalt on those streets later in the week of July 7th.
  3. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.




June 27, 2025

  1. The paving contractor will be paving the second and final lift of asphalt on Barrett, Andrus, Grace, Lamb, and Crystal early the week of June 30th. They will then be paving the first of two lifts of asphalt on Grand, Osage, 60th, and 62nd early to middle of the week.
  2. The asphalt driveway removal and replacement on Grand, Osage, and 60th is schedule for the start of the week of June 30th.
  3. The landscaping contractor is scheduled to finish the prep work for sod the week of June 30th. Due to the weather, they are unable to place any more sod until mid-September.
  4. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.



June 20, 2025

  1. The concrete contractor was delayed to the end of this week. They will be completing the concrete curb and sidewalk repairs on Grand, Osage, and 60th at the beginning of the week of June 23rd.
  2. The paving contractor will be placing the second and final asphalt lift on Margo Ct, Palmer, Powell, Saylor, 67th Pl, 68th Pl, Barrett, Andrus, Lamb, Grace, and Crystal starting early the week of June 23rd.
  3. The paving contractor will also be grinding on Grand, Osage, 60th, and 62nd later in the week of June 23rd.
  4. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.



June 13, 2025

  1. The concrete contractor will be completing the concrete curb and sidewalk repairs on Grand, Osage, and 60th early to middle of the week of June 16th. Any driveways impacted by the work will be notified 24-48 hours in advance by door hanger.
  2. The paving contractor will be placing the first asphalt lift on Margo Ct, Palmer, Powell, Saylor, 67th Pl, 68th Pl, Barrett, Andrus, Lamb, Grace, and Crystal the week of June 16th.
  3. The landscaping contractor is continuing to prep areas for sod. If weather cooperates, they will continue planting sod. Any sod placed is the contractor's responsibility to water for about 30 days until it is accepted by the Village.
  4. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.



June 6, 2025

  1. The contractor will be finishing the surface asphalt on Oxford, 67th, and Blackstone at the beginning of the week of June 9th.
  2. The paving contractor will also be starting grinding on Crystal, Andrus/Barrett, 68th Pl and starting on Powell at the start of the week of June 9th. They will then continue on Powell, 67th Pl, Saylor, Palmer, Barrett and Margo Ct through the end of the week.
  3. The concrete contractor is starting concrete curb and sidewalk repairs on Grand, Osage, and 60th early to middle of the week of June 9th. Any driveways impacted by the work will be notified 24-48 hours in advance by door hanger.

May 30, 2025

  1. The contractor will be raising the lids of the structures in the street on Oxford, Blackstone, 67th St, Briargate, Fairmount, Crescent, and 65th on Friday May 30th and early the week of June 2nd. The paving contractor will then be placing final surface in that area mid-week through the end of the week.
  2. The landscaping contractor is wrapping up sod restoration in the above area and will be watering the sod for the next 30 days.
  3. The concrete contractor will be finishing concrete repairs on Powell, Palmer, Barrett, Saylor, 67th Pl, 68th Pl and Margo Ct early the week of June 2nd.
  4. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.



May 23, 2025

  1. The paving contractor will be paving the first of two levels of asphalt the week of May 27th on Oxford, Blackstone, 67th St, Briargate, Fairmount, Crescent and 65th. Prior to paving, the contractor will be putting down a tack coat (fresh oil).
  2. The landscaping contractor is scheduled to place sod in the above area next week or early the week after. Residents should note that it is the contractor's responsibility to water the sod and ensure it takes in the first 30 days. They do not need to water the sod for the contractor.
  3. The concrete contractor completed both sides of concrete repairs on Crystal, Andrus/Barrett, Grace and Lamb. They will be working on the the second half of the curb and sidewalk removal and replacement on Powell, Palmer, Barrett, Saylor, 67th PL, 68th Pl, and Margo later in the week of May 27th.
  4. All work is weather dependent and subject to change if there is rain in the forecast.



May 16, 2025

  1. The concrete contractor will begin curb and sidewalk removal and replacement on Crystal, Andrus/Barrett, Powell, Palmer, Barrett, Saylor, 67th Pl, 68th Pl, and Margo Ct the week of May 19th.
  2. The paving contractor will begin grinding the surface in the Oxford/Fairmount area the week of May 19th. They will be posting signs on May 16th to not park on the street during the week to allow for the road work to occur.


May 9, 2025

  1. The landscaper will be continuing to place black dirt and prep for sod along the new concrete in the Oxford/Fairmount area. Once all areas are prepped, they are tentatively scheduled to place sod. It is the contractors requirement to ensure the sod is properly watered and takes. The evaluation period is typically 30 days from placement.
  2. The concrete contractor was delayed and will be completing the east and south side curb removals on Oxford, Blackstone, and the west leg of 67th St beginning of next week. The sawcutter has started cutting curb in the resurfacing areas west of Main St. The contractor is tentatively scheduled to continue into the area west of Main St with curb and sidewalk removal and replacement.


May 2, 2025

  1. The contractor completed the west and south side curb removal and replacement on Briargate, 65th, Fairmount, and the east leg of 67th.
  2. Next week they will complete the east and south side curb removals on Oxford, Blackstone, and the west leg of 67th St. They will also complete all of the remaining sidewalk corners.
  3. Landscapers are scheduled to fill in along the curbs and sidewalks.


April 25, 2025

  1. The contractor completed the east and north side curb removal and replacement of the Oxford/Briargate/Fairmount area.
  2. The contractor will now be starting the west and south side curb removal and replacement starting at Briargate, 65th, and 67th at the beginning of next week. They will then proceed to Blackstone, Oxford, Fairmount & Crescent towards the end of the week and possibly into the following weekend, weather pending.


April 18, 2025

  1. The contractor completed the east and north sides of Briargate, 65th, 67th (west of Fairmount), and Blackstone.
  2. Removals for curb and sidewalk repairs will continue early next week on the east and north sides of Oxford, Fairmount, 67th (east of Fairmount), and Crescent. Once that side is complete, the contractor will continue with the south and east sides of Briargate, 65th, 67th (west of Fairmount), and Blackstone.
  3. Residents who will have impacts to driveway access during concrete work will receive a notification in advance with additional information regarding alternative parking arrangements.


April 11, 2025

  1. The contractor will begin saw cutting in the area around Oxford and Fairmount (Oxford, Fairmount, Briargate, 67th, Blackstone, Crescent, 65th) on Monday, April 14th, and continue through the week.
  2. Removals for curb and sidewalk repairs are expected to begin on Wednesday, April 16th in the same area.
  3. Residents who will have impacts to driveway access during concrete work will receive a notification in advance with additional information regarding alternative parking arrangements.


March 28, 2025

  1. A pre-construction meeting was held with the contractor on 3/27/25. The contractor is expected to begin mobilizing into town the week of April 7th.
  2. The project schedule with street-specific phasing is still being finalized. Initial construction activities to expect include the posting of "Road Construction Ahead" signs at the street limits.
  3. Concrete saw cutting for spot-repairs followed by concrete removal and replacement is expected the week of April 14th.


March 14, 2025

The contract was awarded at the March 11th Council meeting. Residents in the resurfacing areas will receive notification letters with additional information regarding upcoming construction. The contractor will provide a schedule to the Village at the preconstruction meeting.



March 7, 2025

The project is to go before Council for approval on 3/11/25.
