Project Summary
This project includes design and installation of a pump station and drainage storage to help reduce the frequency of roadway flooding at the intersection of Curtiss Street and Glenview Avenue.

November 7, 2025
The contractor is planning on installing the generator and controller starting the week of November 17. Once that work is complete, electric and gas service installations will be completed and final site grading and sodding finished, weather pending.
PAST UPDATES
October 17, 2025
- The contractor has informed the Village that the pumps/generator are finally ready and that they plan to re-mobilize to the site beginning on 10/17.
- We anticipate their work to take about 2-3 weeks to complete and that the construction will generally be isolated to the south side of the intersection of Curtiss/Glenview. We will ask the contractor to try to stage their materials/equipment such that the roadway is not generally blocked to thru traffic.
- Once these final parts of the construction are complete, there will be some follow up work required by both Nicor and ComEd which should wrap up this project.
October 10, 2025
A meeting was held with the general contractor to schedule subcontractors to install the generator and controller panel. Once that schedule is received, residents near the site will receive additional information about the expected timeline to finish this project.
August 1, 2025
- Electric service installation is scheduled to be complete by the end of the week of 8/4. Gas service installation should follow shortly after and that work is being done by Nicor.
- Further notice will be provided when the generator and pumps are scheduled for delivery and installation.
June 27, 2025
Electric service installation and gas service installation are tentatively scheduled for mid-July. Work will then be coordinated to install the generator & pumps, and complete remaining landscaping and punch list work.
May 16, 2025
Coordination is continuing for private utility installations at the 1931 Curtiss site. Once the power and natural gas installations are ready, the generator and pumps can be installed.
April 25, 2025
The contractor has been completing the remaining storm sewer work over the last two weeks. Prep work has begun for installation of the pumps and generator, which will continue as weather permits over the next few weeks.
April 11, 2025
- The contractor has tentatively planned to re-mobilize to the 1931 Curtiss site starting the week of 4/18.
- The roadway at the Curtiss/Glenview intersection is expected to stay open during this phase with no detours anticipated at this time.
February 28, 2025
The Contractor is coordinating with material suppliers to begin work on the pumps and generator equipment in the next few weeks, weather permitting. Final completion is anticipated in spring 2025, with work isolated to the 1931 Curtiss site.

- Landscape restoration has been addressed and the road is fully opened.
- Some intermittent winter activity may occur as the pumps and generator equipment become available. Final completion is anticipated in early 2025, with work isolated to the 1931 Curtiss site.

- The construction is nearing substantial completion, with landscape restoration scheduled for the week of 11/18. The detour route signs will also be removed once the asphalt paving is completed at Curtiss and Glenview.

November 8, 2024
Asphalt paving is tentatively scheduled for 11/13 for both the roadway and driveway pavements. Other concrete and landscaping work may occur the week of 11/11 (weather pending).
November 1, 2024
- Parkway landscape restoration is under way and will continue the week of 11/4. Asphalt and concrete work are currently scheduled for the week of 11/4 as well (weather pending).
- As driveway pavement replacement dates are set, the Village will notify affected residents in advance for short term disruption of access.
October 25, 2024
- The storm trap, storm sewers and water quality drainage items have been installed. Dirt backfill will continue the week of 10/28 at the 1931 Curtiss lot. Landscape cleanup and preparations are tentatively scheduled for the week of 10/28, including grading/shaping the parkways and topsoil delivery (weather dependent).
- Driveway pavement replacement and roadway asphalt/concrete work would follow the landscaping work as early as the week of 11/4.
October 11, 2024
The storm trap and other large underground drainage installations will continue next week south of the intersection at Curtiss Street and Glenview Avenue.
October 4, 2024
- The storm sewer installation along Curtiss Street is progressing, with planned work to continue south of the intersection at Glenview Avenue the week of 10/7.
- The detour route will continue to be in use as increased truck traffic and material delivery are anticipated to continue work on the underground storm infrastructure.
- Some temporary fencing is expected to be used near the 1931 Curtiss site as deep excavations are necessary for the work at that location.
September 20, 2024
- The contractor will be working in the roadway for the week of 9/23 performing storm sewer installation near Curtiss Street and Glenview Avenue. This work will have a detour route posted that will re-route east-west traffic on Curtiss Street, as well as north-south traffic on Glenview Avenue.
- Residents east of Glenview Avenue will need to exit east towards Cornell and can access Belmont via Hitchcock Avenue. Residents west of Glenview Avenue will need to exit west towards Belmont and can go east on Hitchcock Avenue.
September 13, 2024
- Materials and equipment are being mobilized to the site starting on 9/13 and continuing the week of 9/16.
- Traffic control will begin to be set up next week as well, with anticipated underground storm sewer work beginning in the roadway on Curtiss Street the week of 9/23.
August 23, 2024
Tree removal, stump grinding, and brush clearing has been completed by the subcontractor. Delivery of the storm sewer materials and construction equipment is scheduled to begin the week of 9/16 to continue with the underground infrastructure installation.
August 2, 2024
Tree removal and brush cleanup will continue the week of 8/5 to prepare for the underground storm sewer work.
July 26, 2024
Tree removal is scheduled to begin the week of 7/26 at the Park District property (1931 Curtiss). Construction signs will begin to be installed and other equipment and materials will start to be mobilized to the site.
May 31, 2024
The start of construction has been pushed back to the end of July to allow for manufacturing some of the larger underground storm infrastructure. Additional notices will be sent to residents as we get closer to the new start date.
March 15, 2024
The contract was awarded at the March 12th Council meeting. Residents in the project area received notification letters regarding a neighborhood informational meeting on 3/14/2024 at the Public Works building. The contractor will provide a schedule to the Village at the preconstruction meeting.

Plan design is nearly completed and coordination is ongoing with the Park District. It is anticipated to begin construction in spring 2024.
August 11, 2023
Plan design is continuing, but construction could be delayed due to supply issues for the pumps.
