March 20, 2004 - State of the Village

Mayor Brian Krajewski welcomed people to the meeting 9:08 a.m.

Present:Mayor Brian Krajewski, Commissioners Marilyn Schnell, Martin Tully, Ron Sandack, Stan Urban; Village Manager Riccardo Ginex

Absent: Commissioners Sue McConnell and Mark Zabloudil

Mayor Krajewski introduced guests and Council members. He reported on the State of the Village, focusing on the major departments including Fire, Police, and Public Works, revenues, public safety expenses, sales taxes, property taxes as well as a comparison to neighboring communities, and grant activity. He reviewed the achievements and awards of the past year, provided an update on boards and commissions, planning and community development including major new employers, commercial and residential building permits, and property values. He discussed economic development issues, including the parking deck, Curtiss block, Station Crossing and Georgian Courts, and new businesses coming into Downers Grove. He congratulated the Tivoli Theater on 75 years in Downers Grove.

Mayor Krajewski thanked everyone for attending.
