Police Investigate Incident Near School Bus Stop

Update: October 6, 2021 Downers Grove Police Chief Shanon Gillette announced that Clementina L. Miller, 29 of the 6500 block of Woodward Avenue in Downers Grove, has been charged with Aggravated Assault in violation of 720 ILCS 5/12-2(c)(1) and Disorderly Conduct in violation of 720 ILCS 5/26-1(a)(1).

During the investigation into the incident, a BB gun resembling a handgun was recovered by officers. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Police Department at 630-434-5600.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant's guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government's burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

October 5, 2021 At approximately 7:50 a.m. on October 5, 2021, the Downers Grove Police Department responded to a report of a person armed with a handgun near the school bus stop in the 2100 block of Prentiss Dr. Witnesses stated there was an argument between two adults near the bus stop, and one person displayed what appeared to be a handgun.

Officers located the person suspected of displaying the weapon. The person was taken into custody without incident. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the incident. This incident remains under investigation.
