Police Department On-Site Visit for Accreditation

October 22, 2021

The Downers Grove Police Department is scheduled for a virtual On-Site Assessment as part of a nationally recognized program to achieve accreditation by verifying that it meets professional standards. Administered by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the accreditation program requires agencies to comply with state-of-the-art standards in four basic areas: policy and procedures, administration, operations, and support services.

As part of the virtual on-site assessment, agency employees and members of the Downers Grove community are invited to offer their comments in the following ways:

  • Public Information Session, Monday, November 1, 2021, at 5:00 p.m.  The session will be conducted in the Downers Grove Police Department Community Room, at 825 Burlington Ave, Downers Grove, IL 60515.
  • Phone-in Comments by calling (630) 434-5641 on Monday, November 1, 2021, between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Comments will be taken by the CALEA Assessment Team.

Telephone comments, as well as appearances at the public information session, are limited to 10 minutes and must address the police department's ability to comply with CALEA's standards. A copy of the standards is available at the Downers Grove Police Department. The local contact is Stacy Blaskovich at 630-434-5641 or sblaskovich@downers.us.

Anyone wishing to offer written comments about the Downers Grove Police Department's ability to comply with the standards for accreditation may send them to:
