Police Investigation
August 19, 2022
On August 19, 2022, at approximately 7:00 P.M. the Downers Grove Police Department responded to a report of a suspicious incident that occurred in the 4600 block of Stonewall Avenue.
An 11 year old girl was riding a scooter when the driver of a silver sedan stopped and asked her if she wanted to get into his vehicle.The girl rode southbound from the area. The silver vehicle was last seen traveling south on Stonewall Avenue towards Prairie Avenue. The child returned home and told her parents about the incident.
The driver of the silver sedan was described as an olive skinned white man, approximately 40 years old, heavyset with dark colored short hair and no facial hair.
The Police Department would like to remind parents to review safety practices with their children. Children should be instructed to run home, to a familiar house, or to an open school to get help immediately if approached by a stranger. The police should be called as soon as possible.
