Construction on both projects will take place in phases over the coming months.

The Village is moving forward with two Downtown improvement projects identified in the Guiding DG Streetscapes Plan that build upon the continued investment in downtown beautification and placemaking efforts. Construction on both projects will take place in phases over the coming months.

Linda Kunze Plaza

Linda Kunze Plaza at the Main Street Train Station, will undergo a significant transformation that will create a more inviting and functional destination for everyday use and special events.

The redesigned plaza will feature new landscaping, decorative paving, masonry seat walls, gateway signage, irrigation improvements, repairs to the existing clock and a new fountain feature that will serve as a focal point for the space.

Construction fencing is now in place at the Main Street Station. The station will remain open to the public during construction. Note: The Downtown Downers Grove Market will continue to operate in the same general area through September.

Flexible Amenity Areas

Work is also getting underway Downtown on five new Flexible Amenity Areas. These spaces are intended to support a variety of uses, from outdoor dining and casual seating to community gathering opportunities and public art displays. The amenity areas will create additional places for people to relax, meet friends, enjoy a meal or simply take in the energy of downtown.
