Fatal Hit & Run Accident Investigation

• Investigators were able to confirm through video surveillance that the victim of the hit-and-run crash had fallen in the roadway and was lying down just before being struck by the offending vehicle.
• Investigators completed a two-mile canvass of Ogden Avenue for witnesses and additional video surveillance indicating the offending vehicle’s direction of travel.
• Investigators also determined that the vehicle parts left behind at the scene belonged to an Acura RDX between the 2022 and 2024 model years.
• Investigators located the driver and vehicle involved in the crash through local records, registration checks, and other investigative means. The driver was identified as a 74-year-old female who is cooperating with the investigation. 
• The investigation is ongoing, and additional details will be released as they become available.
• The Downers Grove Police Department would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Robin Robinson. Investigators have been in contact with family members and will continue to provide them with updated information.

Fatal Hit & Run Accident Investigation

• The victim’s identification is being withheld to ensure all family members have been notified.
• The victim was a resident of the 600 block of Ogden Avenue and is believed to have been returning home at the time of the incident.
• Investigators worked diligently throughout the night canvassing for video and attempting to locate witnesses.
• A witness described the offending vehicle as a dark-colored, small-to-mid-size Honda sports utility vehicle, possibly a Honda CRV.
• Investigators located car parts at the scene that were manufactured by Honda, however, these car parts can also be related to an Acura vehicle. Police are looking for a vehicle matching this description with possible front end damage or damage to the wheel well area. 
• Police will release additional information as it becomes available.Police are asking anyone with any information related to this investigation to contact them.

The crash is under investigation by the Downers Grove Police Department and the DuPage M.E.R.I.T. Major Crash Reconstruction Team. The identity of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of family members.

On May 9th, 2024, at approximately 9:11 p.m. the Downers Grove Police Department responded to the report of a hit and run accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 600 block of Ogden Avenue. Upon the arrival of officers, a 65 year old female was located deceased in the roadway.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the female victim was crossing the street when she was struck by a dark colored, small to midsize Honda or Acura SUV traveling westbound on Ogden Avenue. The offending vehicle left the scene of the accident and was last seen traveling westbound on Ogden Ave.
