Kia & Hyundai Steering Wheel Lock Program

The Downers Grove Police Department has obtained a limited number of steering wheel locks for residents who own certain KIA and Hyundai vehicles.

 In recent months, certain model years have been the target of theft, nationwide.


Wheel locks are FREE and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis under the following criteria: 

  1. Must be a resident of incorporated Downers Grove. (proof of residency required)
  2. Be the registered owner of a vehicle in the affected groups:

  4. a. 2016-2021 Hyundai (all models) with a keyed ignition, only.


      b. 2011-2021 KIA (all models) with a keyed ignition, only.


NOTE: Vehicles with push-button ignitions have not been affected by the recent thefts and are not eligible for this program.
