The Illinois Homeowner Assistance Fund (ILHAF) is a federally funded program dedicated to assisting homeowners who are at risk of default, foreclosure, or displacement as result of a financial hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting in April 2022, the state will begin accepting applications from homeowners for grants of up to $30,000 to eliminate or reduce past-due mortgage and property tax payments.

Homeowners are strongly encouraged to attend a webinar hosted by Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) in advance of the application portal opening. These sessions will provide a road map for you to follow to make the application process more efficient.
