Traffic Signal Modernization

Project Summary

The Village owns and maintains 20 traffic signals. This equipment must be regularly maintained and updated to meet current standards and ensure continuity of operations.

This project will update signals at five intersections:

1. Fairview Ave & Lincoln Ave
2. Fairview Ave & Prairie Ave
3. Fairview Ave & Hill St
4. Fairview Ave & 59th St
5. Fairview Ave & 75th St



LATEST UPDATE

August 7, 2026

1. Electrical contractor is continuing work at the following intersections along Fairview Avenue: Lincoln, Prairie, Hill, and 59th.
2. Contractor will be installing pedestrian posts and push buttons as well as completing the repair of damaged traffic signal loops at Lincoln and Hill.
3. Watering of sod will continue throughout the week of 8/10

PAST UPDATES

July 31, 2026

Electrical contractor will be working at the following locations: Lincoln/Fairview, Prairie/Fairview, Hill/Fairview, and 59th/Fairview installing pedestrian signal posts and pulling connecting wires. Detector loop repairs at Lincoln and Hill sites is scheduled as well.

July 24, 2026

1. Patching and parkway restoration work has been completed. The sod will be watered for the next month.
2. Public Works is working with the contractor to establish a schedule for constructing the pedestrian signal posts and push buttons, as well as installing the wiring.

July 17, 2026

Concrete work is complete and the contractor is tentatively scheduled to complete patching and parkway restoration next week.

July 10, 2026

1. Remaining concrete sidewalk, curbs, and pedestrian push button foundations were all poured on 7/6.
2. Restoration work, asphalt patching, and electrical work for all project locations is tentatively scheduled for the middle of next week.

July 3, 2026

1. Concrete curb and sidewalks are partially poured at 59th/Fairview, Hill/Fairview, and Lincoln/Fairview. The electrical contractor is installing pedestrian post foundations and conduit at the same locations.
2. Concrete sidewalk is scheduled to be poured early next week and push button work will also continue.

June 26, 2026

1. Concrete curb and sidewalk was removed and poured at Fairview and 59th Street, Fairview and Hill, and Fairview and Lincoln.
2. The week of June 29th will have remaining concrete work poured at these locations and asphalt patching.
3. Landscape restoration will also begin, but is dependent on weather and subject to be delayed.
4. Crosswalk push button work will also continue the week of 6/29.

June 19, 2026

1. Sawcutting was completed on 6/17.
2. Concrete curb and sidewalk removal scheduled to start 6/19 at: Fairview and 59th, Fairview and Hill, and Fairview and Lincoln. Concrete curb and sidewalk pouring scheduled to start on 6/22 at the same intersections.
3. Electrical work is scheduled for later in the week at the same intersections as well as Fairview and Prairie and the pedestrian crossing across Fairview north of 75th Street.

June 12, 2026

1. Sawcutting is scheduled to commence on Monday 6/15 and concrete removals are tentatively scheduled for Tuesday 6/16. Construction work is scheduled later this week.

May 29, 2026

Contractor will be calling in JULIE locates next week and is tentatively planning to start work the week of 6/8.
