Retaining Wall Repair & Replacement

Project Summary

This annual program is to provide for the replacement or rehabilitation of block retaining walls throughout the Village.

This year's project consists of repairs to retaining walls at McCollum Park; also, a section of wall located on the north side of Maple Ave. (north of the train tracks), between Burlington Ave and Rogers St.

All punch list items have been addressed. This project is complete.

PAST UPDATES

October 11, 2024

The project is substantially complete. The Village will be performing a punch list walkthrough with the contractor and establish a timeline for any punch list items to be addressed.

October 4, 2024

• The split rail fence installation at McCollum Park will continue into the week of October 7th.
• The remaining retaining wall and sidewalk replacement at Maple Ave will take place at the beginning of the week of October 7th.
• Seed and blanket restoration will proceed accordingly.

September 27, 2024

• McCollum Park retaining wall repairs will continue into the week of September 30th. The installation of the split rail fence has begun and will also continue into the week of September 30th.
• Seed and blanket restoration of completed areas is also underway and will proceed accordingly.

September 20, 2024

• McCollum Park retaining wall repairs will continue into the week of September 23rd.
• The split rail fence surrounding the retaining walls has begun to be removed. Installation of the replacement fence is scheduled to start later in the week of September 23rd and continue into the following week.

September 6, 2024

Contractor will be continuing work at McCollum Park for most of the month of September.

August 30, 2024

Contractor will be continuing the work at McCollum Park through the week of September 3rd.

August 23, 2024

• The sidewalk at the Maple site was poured and will be opened to the public the week of August 26th. The portion of the work within the BNSF property is still delayed.
• Contractor has begun work at McCollum Park and will continue through the week of August 26th.

August 16, 2024

• The contractor has removed the sidewalk at the Maple Ave site and prepped for replacement, which is scheduled towards the beginning of the week of August 19th.
• The portion of the work within the BNSF property is delayed and will occur once the railroad schedules their watch and protect.
• The contractor will otherwise mobilize and start work at McCollum Park the week of August 19th.

August 9, 2024

• The contractor will be removing and replacing the sidewalk the week of August 12th and wrapping up the remainder of the retaining wall work.
• Mobilization to the McCollum Park site could occur towards the end of the week or at the beginning of the week of August 19th.

August 2, 2024

The contractor will be mobilizing and commencing work at Maple Ave the week of August 5th. The contractor will start with the retaining wall work and then remove and replace the sidewalk. Work is expected to last 2-3 weeks. They will then proceed to the McCollum Park site.

July 12, 2024

Contractor is waiting for the BNSF Permit to commence the Maple Ave work. They anticipate mobilizing the week of July 15th. After the Maple Ave work is completed, the contractor will proceed to the McCollum Park site.

May 24, 2024

Pre-Construction meeting was conducted with contractor. Work is anticipated to commence at the Maple Ave site at the end of June/beginning of July. Contractor will then continue to the McCollum Park site.

May 10, 2024

Contract was awarded at the May 7th Council Meeting.
