Project Summary

This project will replace water main water main on Curtiss Street under the creek, and on Puffer Road from Hobson Road to 61st Street.

Work will also include patching of the existing roadway where the new water main will be installed, sidewalk improvements at the intersections and street resurfacing.

LATEST UPDATE

September 29, 2023

• Starting October 2nd, the contractor will begin installing water services on the installed water main between 61st Street and 60th Street. The connections made will be between the installed water main and the roundways/Buffalo boxes. Brief water shut offs may occur while the water service line connections are being made. Sections of sidewalk will be removed as a result of water service installation. The sidewalk will be temporarily replaced with gravel.
• Also starting October 2nd, the casing for the water main and the water main on Curtiss St will be installed. Services in the area are not expected to be affected.
• Water services for homes between 60th Street and Hobson Road may commence at the end of the week of October 2nd.
• All work is weather pending.

PAST UPDATES

September 22, 2023

• Water main installation on Curtiss Ave will be starting the week of September 25th. East bound traffic will still be able to drive through the construction area while west bound traffic on Curtiss St will be detoured to Wisconsin Ave. The detour will be effective from September 26th to October 13th.
• Water main installation on Puffer Rd will be limited the week of October 2nd while the work on Curtiss Ave is occurring. Full time construction will recommence the week of October 9th. After the water main installation is extended through Hobson, the contractor will begin installing hydrants on the water main.
• All work is weather pending.

September 15, 2023

• Water main installation is anticipated to begin September 20th starting at 61st Street and heading north. Into the week of October 2nd, the contractor will continue installing water main to Hobson Road.
• As new water main is installed and connected to the existing main, there may be interruptions of water service to the affected area. Affected residents will be notified by door hanger.
• All work is weather pending.

September 8, 2023

• The contract was awarded at the August 22nd Council meeting. The preconstruction meeting was held September 1st. Construction notices were sent out to residents on September 6th.
• The week of September 11th the contractor will begin mobilizing equipment and materials, saw cutting and marking JULIE locates for other utilities.
• Water main installation is anticipated to begin the week of September 25th. It is anticipated the contractor will start at Hobson and proceed south. All work is weather pending.
