As a Pluggie's Pal, kids help keep fire hydrants clear of snow and help firefighters.

- Remove any snow and ice from the hydrant.
- Clear a wide enough perimeter to walk around it (about 3 feet)
- Clear a path from the hydrant to the street.
Kids and their parents can help the Downers Grove Fire Department this winter by becoming a Pluggie's Pal.
The program teaches children about fire safety by involving them in keeping a fire hydrant near their home clear of snow and accessible.
Participants are asked to clear snow and shovel a path around the hydrant so firefighters can quickly find and use it in the event of a fire, saving valuable time.

Parents and children are asked to register their participation.
