Village crews have been plowing around the clock since the winter storm began at 3:00 p.m. Monday, February 15. All roads have been plowed at least once, but remain snow covered due to the extremely cold temperatures which makes road salt less effective. Work to clear snow packed roads will continue throughout the day and evening. Use caution while driving, allow extra travel time and remember to slow down and increase following distance. Please be patient as crews continue to clear streets.
Since the Village cannot plow all roads at the same time, we use a priority system summarized below. Here's a closer look at the priority rankings of roads in the Village Snow and Ice Control Plan:
Priority 1: Primary roadways with the highest traffic volume, roadways adjacent to schools, and roadways leading to Good Samaritan Hospital. These streets are targeted for completion 12 hours after the storm's completion.
Priority 2: All other secondary roadways with average daily traffic are targeted for completion 12 hours after the storm's completion.
Priority 3: Cul-de-sacs and dead-ends with average daily traffic of less than 200 cars. are targeted for completion 18 hours after the storm's completion.
