Downers Grove Police Investigate Suspicious Incident

Police are investigating a report of a suspicious incident which occurred on Thursday, April 4, 2019, involving a thirteen year old girl as she was walking home from school near Palmer and Saratoga. The driver of a small black sedan asked the girl if she needed an umbrella.  The girl refused the umbrella. The driver never exited his vehicle and left the area traveling eastbound on Palmer.

The driver was described as a white man, with dark hair and a short dark beard, approximately 40 years old.

Patrols have been increased in the area.  The Police Department would like to remind parents to review stranger danger practices with their children.  Children should be instructed that when approached by a stranger they should run to a familiar house or to school and get help immediately.  The police should then be called as soon as possible.

If anyone has information regarding this incident, please contact the Downers Grove Police Department at (630) 434-5600.
