Police Chief Announces Deputy Chief of Operations

Downers Grove Police Chief Shanon Gillette announced today the promotion of Mike DeVries to the position of Deputy Chief of Operations for the Downers Grove Police Department. DeVries has been a police officer for the Village of Downers Grove for 18 years. Throughout his career he has served in a variety of leadership roles including Lieutenant of Investigations, Lieutenant of Operations, Detective Sergeant, and Patrol Sergeant.  

In 2012, he earned a Master of Science in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University. He also holds a Master of Science in Management and Organizational Behavior and a Bachelor of Arts in Management from Benedictine University. Deputy Chief DeVries is also a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command and the FBI National Academy in Quantico,Virginia.

"Mike's exceptional leadership skills and operational experience will enable him to have a positive impact as Deputy Chief," stated Chief Gillette.

"I am proud to work alongside the men and women of the Downers Grove Police Department who work night and day to help make Downers Grove a great community," stated Deputy Chief DeVries.

The promotion of Deputy Chief Mike DeVries is effective Sunday, February 11, 2018.
