New Picnic Tables Dedicated at Downtown DG Market

On Saturday, June 17, 2017 Mayor Tully and members of the Village Council along with Erik Knowles, Executive Director of the Indian Boundary YMCA dedicated the NEW picnic tables at the Downtown Downers Grove Market.

Three "all weather" picnic tables were generously purchased by the YMCA and installed by the Village around the area where the event takes place each week. Visitors can have a seat and enjoy what they've purchased amidst the bustling market activity. The tables are permanently installed and can be enjoyed during other events throughout the season.

Since the mid-1990s, The Indian Boundary YMCA has jointly sponsored with the Village of Downers Grove the Downtown Downers Grove Market. Over this period of time it has grown to generate more than $900,000 in scholarship funds to help support families and children of the local community. These funds, on average, allow the Indian Boundary YMCA to provide financial assistance to 400 plus children each year, giving them opportunities in swimming lessons, early childhood education, sports and fitness programming. Last year, more than 3,300 people visited the market during peak weeks.

If you are a local business or individual who's interested in helping the Indian Boundary YMCA and looking to impact the community, please reach out to Erik Knowles, Executive Director, at 630-929-2408 or email: eknowles@ymcachicago.org.
