Independence Day News and Notes

  • Village Hall will close at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 3.
  • Garbage collection will be delayed by one day for those with service on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.

Give three cheers for the red, white and blue at the 2018 Independence Day Parade. The parade begins on July 4 at 12:45 p.m. at Main and Grant Streets and heads south to Warren Avenue.

Uncle Sam wants you to keep it safe, so please keep children out of the street at all times. Candy will only be passed out curbside to help keep the sideline clear for parade participants and first responders.

Join your friends at the fireworks display at approximately 9:30 p.m. at 75th St. and Lemont Road. There are several parking lots in the area to park and enjoy the show.

Did you know that fireworks are illegal in Downers Grove and in Illinois?  Though one can easily purchase fireworks legally in adjacent states, it is illegal to bring them home across the border.

Any person convicted of an offense is subject to a fine of between $75.00 and $750.00

For a July 4 that's both exciting and safe, leave the fireworks to the experts and take the family to a professional outdoor display.
