Disorderly Conduct Arrest in Threat to School

Downers Grove Police Chief Kurt Bluder has announced the arrest of Mario R Hristov, age 18, for Disorderly Conduct - Threat to School/Person. The incident occurred on December 12, 2016, at Downers Grove North High School when Mr. Hristov made statements to fellow students that he wanted to "shoot up the school". Mr. Hristov was not in attendance at school on December 13, 2016, when he posted a picture of himself on social media holding BB guns, including one that looked similar to an assault rifle. Students that heard his threat from the day before then notified school authorities.

Downers Grove Police Detectives located Mr. Hristov at a friend's home in Lisle, IL. He insisted that he was only joking when he said he was going to "shoot up the school". Detectives also confirmed that the guns he was holding on social media were BB guns. Mr. Hristov was transported to the DuPage County Jail where he is being held on $20,000 bond.

The public is reminded that a complaint is not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
