Council Working to Promptly Fill Vacancy Created by Vattimo Resignation

The Village Council will meet next week to discuss filling the vacancy created by the resignation of Commissioner Gina Vattimo. Pursuant to State law, the Village Council will appoint a qualified individual to serve as Commissioner until the vacancy is filled by an interim election to be held in April 2017.

Earlier this month, the Village Council invited interested residents to apply to be considered to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of former Commissioner David Olsen. Application materials were described and made available via the Village website. Fortunately, that public solicitation garnered numerous well-qualified applicants for the position. "I was very pleased to see such robust interest in the position, as it gave the Council a variety of high-caliber candidates to choose from," Mayor Martin Tully said.

The Council will now work expeditiously to select a qualified candidate, starting with consideration of the submittals received during the previous process. Please direct any inquiries to Village Attorney Enza Petrarca, who can be contacted at (630) 434-5541 or
