The Village and Genuine Parts Company/National Auto Parts Association (NAPA) will enter into a partnership to privatize the management of the Village's Fleet Parts and Inventory Program, and to buy parts from NAPA at discounted prices over the life of the contract. The contract, which was approved by the Village Council on Tuesday, September 15, 2015, is projected to save $51,438 for each of the next three years in parts purchases.
This partnership achieves the Village's goals of maintaining a commitment to Continual Innovation and providing Exceptional Municipal Services.
"This is a great example of the Village's willingness to privatize operations where it is financially prudent, while still ensuring services to residents remain top-notch," Public Works Director Nan Newlon said.
Utilizing NAPA's enhanced capabilities will allow the Village to shorten down-time for public safety vehicles, getting them back on the road more quickly to serve the community. Moreover, efficiencies created by this partnership will allow the Village to reduce both the size of its Fleet staff and vehicle count.
