Update on Barricaded Suspect

Downers Grove Police Chief Robert Porter announced today that Daniel E. Saxon, 53, of Downers Grove, Illinois, has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident that occurred on Tuesday, November 19, 2014. At approximately 2:50 p.m., Downers Grove Police responded to a report of a man that was acting irrationally at 2415 Ogden Avenue. An officer approached the man at which time the man struck the officer and disarmed the officer of his Taser. The man subsequently fled to his apartment, barricading the door. Eventually the man surrendered to police and was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital for evaluation. 

The DuPage County States Attorney approved a charge of Disarming A Police Officer. Downers Grove Police obtained a warrant for the arrest of Daniel E. Saxon with bail set at $100,000. The offender was transported to the DuPage County Jail.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only a charge and is not proof of the defendant's guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government's burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
