On Wednesday November 19, 2014, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Downers Grove Police Department responded to 2415 Ogden Ave to investigate a man that was acting irrationally. The man was reportedly blocking residents from entering the apartment building at that address.An officer approached this person and began to question him regarding his behavior, at which time the man struck the officer. A physical struggle ensued as the officer attempted to gain control of the individual. During the struggle, the man disarmed the officer of his Taser and subsequently fled to his apartment, barricading the door. After several failed attempts to make contact with the male subject, the FIAT SWAT Team was activated. Contact was eventually made by telephone with the 53 year old man, who surrendered to police at 5:47 p.m.
The man and was then transported to Good Samaritan for evaluation. Felony charges are pending.
