Police Conduct Armed Robbery Investigations

Downers Grove Police are investigating two incidents that occurred over the weekend. On Saturday, May 3, 2014, at approximately 2:00 a.m., Downers Grove Police responded to a report of an Attempted Armed Robbery at the Sybaris located at 600 Ogden Ave. The victim said a man wearing a white handkerchief over his face unsuccessfully attempted to force his way into the victim's room. The suspect displayed a small handgun during a brief struggle, and then left the area on foot. The suspect is described as being 5'8, with dark skin, wearing blue jeans and a dark coat.

On Sunday, May 4, 2014, at approximately 11:20 p.m., Downers Grove Police responded to the 4100 block of Sterling Road to an Armed Robbery. The victim was approached by two individuals armed with handguns. During a brief struggle, the victim was struck in the head by one suspect, while the other suspect took her cell phone. The suspects left the area on foot. Both suspects were described as black males. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
