FBI agents and Downers Grove Police responded to a bank robbery that occurred just before 11:00 a.m. this morning at the American Chartered Bank branch located at 2205 Butterfield Road in Downers Grove. The robber was described by witnesses as a male/black in his 20s or early 30s, approximately 5'7" tall with a thin build, a light complexion and a scruffy face. He wore a black and white checkered hat, a black and white checkered zippered jacket, blue jeans and white gloves.
According to witnesses, the robber made a verbal demand for money, implying he had a weapon and keeping one hand inside a jacket pocket. He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery.
