Police Conducting Attempted Armed Robbery Investigation

On September 17, 2013, at approximately 8:24 a.m., Downers Grove police officers responded to a report of a person that had been the victim of an attempted armed robbery in the area of Saratoga and Franklin Streets. A firearm was displayed during the robbery attempt. The suspect fled on foot prior to the arrival of officers and is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 5' 10" - 6' tall, in his teens or 20's, slender in stature, with facial hair on his chin. He was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, dark jogging pants and white gym shoes. 

Area schools were briefly placed on lockdown while police searched for the suspect. The lockdown was lifted at 10:05 a.m.  No one was injured during the incident and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information regarding the incident or who may recognize the suspect is asked to call 9-1-1.  No further details are available at this time.
