Burglary Suspect Arrested by Police

Downers Grove Police Chief Robert A. Porter announced today that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the burglary that occurred at Dariusz Jewelers.

On April 18, 2013, at approximately 4:00 a.m., officers responded to Dariusz Jewelers, 5121 Main St., for a burglary. The suspects made entry by breaking the glass out of the front door. Approximately $107,000 worth of jewelry was taken. Downers Grove detectives received information on possible suspects from the Chicago Police Department. Further investigation showed that Darrell M. Sims was involved in the burglary.

On May 2, 2013, Downers Grove detectives assisted by the FIAT SWAT team and Chicago Police Department SWAT team members, executed a search warrant at Darrell M. Sims' apartment  in Chicago, where proceeds from the burglary were recovered. Darrell M. Sims was charged with Burglary.

Members of the public are reminded that the complaint contains only charges and are not proof of guilt. The arrested person is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government's burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
