School Bus Driver Arrested For Disorderly Conduct

On Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at approximately 9:20 a.m., the Downers Grove Police Department responded to Highland School, 3935 Highland Avenue, to investigate a suspicious incident.

Investigators determined that a 12 year-old student was riding the bus to school, when upon exiting, the bus driver handed the student a suspicious note.  The handwritten note included the bus driver's personal contact information and a request to talk to the student. The student subsequently turned the note over to Highland School officials. School administrators contacted the Westway Coach bus company and the Downers Grove Police Department, at which time the bus driver was immediately removed from further contact with students.

As a result of the Downers Grove Police Department investigation, the bus driver, identified as Victor Ray (age 52), of Addison, IL was charged with one count of Disorderly Conduct.  Mr. Ray was released on bond, pending a future court date.

As a reminder, a criminal complaint is an allegation of a violation of law, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
