Police Conducting Bank Robbery Investigation

UPDATE: 1:42 p.m. Police have been cleared from the scene of bank robbery at 1303 Ogden Ave. Investigation continues and United Central Bank is open for business.


On January 3, 2013, at approximately 11:09 a.m., officers from the Downers Grove Police Department responded to United Central Bank located at 1303 Ogden Avenue for the report of a man that robbed the bank with a handgun. The man left southbound on foot prior to the arrival of officers.

The suspect is a white male wearing a ski mask, black hooded sweatshirt and jeans. As a precaution, Herrick Middle School and Downers Grove North High School, although not in session were temporarily placed on exterior lockdown. The lockdown of the school was lifted at 12:35 p.m.

Police are continuing to search the area for the man and the investigation is on-going at this time. The public is asked to contact 9-1-1 to report any suspicious person or vehicle to police.

No one was injured during the incident and no further details are available.
