Comprehensive Plan is a Winner

The Illinois Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA) has named the Village of Downers Grove the winner of their Daniel Burnham Award for excellence in a Comprehensive Plan.

Last October, the Village Council adopted the Comprehensive Plan, a document which offers guidance on a wide range of issues including economic development, infrastructure, recreation, environmental impacts, and public safety, in addition to land use policies and maps. It illustrates a vision for the physical character of the Village for the next 15 to 20 years.

The award is named for Daniel Burnham, an American architect and urban planner known for his lead role in the creation of master plans for the development of a number of cities, including Chicago and downtown Washington, D.C.
