Police Ask for Help in Suspicious Incident

On May 3, 2012, Downers Grove Police were notified of a suspicious incident, which occurred in the area of Grant and Oakwood Avenues.

Officers have learned that on May 2, 2012 at approximately 3:15 p.m., a 13 year-old boy was walking home from school when a man in a pick-up truck began following him. The boy lost sight of the vehicle in the area of Downers Drive and Grant Street and proceeded to walk through a wooded area on foot. He emerged from the wooded area and again saw the vehicle occupied by the man in the area of Lee Avenue and Grant Street. The vehicle then left the location in an unknown direction.  No verbal contact was made with the boy and no attempts to lure him into the vehicle were made.

While no crime was committed, police are attempting to locate a white man believed to be 45-55 years old, with brown hair in a black late-model pick up truck. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Downers Grove Police Department at (630) 434-5600.

Police have increased patrols in the area and at all local schools.  Everyone is asked to remind children to be aware of strangers and report any concerns immediately by calling  9-1-1.
