Child Safety Seat Fitting

Officer Chris Fisher makes sure Baby Reese is properly restrained in her car seat.

Don't take chances with your child's safety. Attend the Downers Grove Police Department's Child Safety Seat Event on Saturday, May 5, 2012, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The event will be held in the parking lot of the School District #58 Administrative Center, 1860 63rd Street, in Downers Grove. There is no charge for this service and no appointment is necessary. A certified child safety seat technician will demonstrate how to correctly install your child's car seat.

Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among children ages 2 to 14; a fact directly related to improper use of child safety seats and lack of seat belt use. In a 30 mph crash, a 10 pound infant is thrust towards the impact point and with a force equivalent to 300 pounds. The only way to adequately protect all vehicle passengers, especially children, is to have them properly restrained. In Illinois, ALL passengers in a motor vehicle must be buckled up.
