On June 14, Village Council members will review the latest version of the Draft Comprehensive (Comp) Plan. The current effort to update the Comp Plan began almost three years ago with the selection of consultants Houseal Lavigne Associates to assist Village staff with the massive effort.
The firm guided the Village through Total Community Development (TCD) 3 in 2009, the preparation of an initial Draft Comprehensive Plan in 2010 with the citizen-based Comprehensive Plan Advisory Committee, and multiple public hearings conducted in early 2011 by the Plan Commission.
Following a unanimous recommendation by the Comp Plan Advisory Committee, the Plan Commission refined and updated the Comp Plan document. Members of the Plan Commission unanimously recommended this latest draft be distributed to the Village Council.
Once adopted, the Plan will help guide development and redevelopment decisions, protect neighborhoods and open space, and provide for the revitalization of key commercial areas. It will help assure consistency and predictability for residents, business owners and developers.
