Imagine that police, firefighters and emergency workers are enroute to a 911 call placed from your landline or cell phone. You may be slipping out of consciousness or unable to speak altogether. Even if you can communicate, you may be too frantic or shocked to think straight. What would you want them to know?
DuPage County has implemented Smart 911, a software program that allows residents to provide information that they want to make available to 9-1-1 dispatchers such as medical conditions, allergies, physical and mental disabilities, photos of family members and home addresses of cell phone callers
Many families communicate exclusively via cell phones, which may not register your home address when a 911 call is placed. By registering with Smart911, dispatch personnel will have this and other vital information, which will improve emergency response and service.
Downers Grove residents are encouraged to register for this free service through the secure website www.Smart911.com. The information provided is completely confidential and is only available to emergency responders during a 9-1-1 call.
If you have questions in reference to Smart911, contact the Downers Grove Police Department Crime Prevention Unit at (630) 434-5606 or email@example.com.
