Village Council To Try New Meeting Format

Proposed changes to the format of Village Council meetings will be implemented on a trial basis effective with the first meeting of the new year on January 5, 2010. The measures will provide consistent order in the meeting agenda, additional time for Council discussion and more opportunity for public comment.

Currently, there are four meetings per month which alternate between Workshops, intended for informal discussions, and Village Council Meetings, intended for formal Council voting. The agenda order and opportunity for public comment vary according to meeting type.

The proposal calls for three meetings to be held each month on the first, second and third Tuesdays starting at 7:00 PM. Each meeting will combine the elements of both meeting formats, allowing for informal discussions and formal Council votes to occur at all meetings. Meetings will be more streamlined and efficient and will offer the public additional opportunities to comment at each meeting.

Following the January trial period, the Village Council will make a formal determination as to whether or not the format changes should be permanently implemented.
