Village residents on the north side of Downers Grove may have noticed an increase in their latest water bill. A rate increase took effect on May 1, 2009 as a result of an increase in the price of water imposed by the City of Chicago on the DuPage Water Commission, from which the Village purchases its water at a wholesale rate.
Due to the fact that the City of Chicago implemented this increase mid-year, customers were billed for three months of usage, rather than the usual two months. The bill also reflects the May 1 rate increase. The next water bill customers receive will return to the normal 60 day cycle.
This information should have been included with customer’s water bills, but was omitted in error by the Village’s printing vendor.
