Beginning January 1, 2010, changes to the State’s Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) will go into effect governing the disclosure of government records to the public. In order to comply with the new law, the Village has enacted several changes to its FOIA process, also effective January 1. Changes include:

• The timeframe for response to requests for public records has changed from seven to five business days.
• The Village Clerk has been designated to serve as the Freedom of Information Officer and to establish fees for Village records.
• There will be no charge for standard copies of records. Color copies will be charged at the actual cost of $.10 per page, and fees for plats, maps, photographs, CD’s, DVD ’s, etc. will be the actual cost of reproduction.

Information regarding requests to inspect and/or obtain copies of public records will be available on our website as of January 1.
