Stormwater Utility Referendum

November 8, 2016
General Election VOTER INFORMATION

In November or December of 2016, the Village Council will determine how the community will pay for the $3.9 million cost of owning and operating the stormwater management system. The Council is seeking resident input on this important issue. They will decide if these costs will continue to be paid for with monthly Stormwater Utility fees or if one of the options below should be implemented.

  • Pay for the stormwater management system through property taxes*
  • Pay for the stormwater management system through a combination of property taxes AND monthly Stormwater Utility fees.

Use the SW Calculator Map to see a comparison of what you will pay in 2017 if stormwater costs are continued to be funded by a FEE versus a PROPERTY TAX LEVY.

Three advisory referendum questions will appear on the November 8, 2016 General Election ballot. You can read the questions on the sample ballot below. The Council would like voters to answer all three questions.

Early voting takes place October 24 through November 5, at Village Hall.  Election Day is Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

*Please note property taxes paid to the Village may be deductible from federal and state income taxes.
