The Main Street, Belmont Road and Fairview Avenue train stations in Downers Grove provide Metra rail service from Aurora to Chicago.

Parking is available at all three stations through a combination of Permits, Daily Parking and Parking Meters.

A valid permit must be displayed to park in commuter lots between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Please see the Commuter Parking Map for the location of the permit lots.

Parking is free in commuter lots on weekdays after 11:00 a.m., weekends, and on the following major holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and the day after Christmas.

Wait List

Due to a demand greater than the number of permit spaces available, the Village maintains a wait list. Commuters may place their names on one or more of the wait lists, however, only residents of incorporated Downers Grove may be added to the Main Street wait list. Please email with your name, address, phone number and email address and indicate the list you would like to be on.

Estimated Wait List times as of January 2015:

Main Street: 6 years, 1 month
Belmont: 4 years, 8 months
Fairview: 17 months

Main Street Station

The Parking Deck is located one block south of the Main Street Train Station, at the intersection of Curtiss Street and Mochel Drive. Daily parking spaces are located on Levels 3, 4 and 5 for $3.00, which can be paid at one of the automated pay stations on site. Spaces fill up quickly on weekday mornings, usually by 7:30 a.m.

The Parking Deck is free after 3:00 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays.  Please refer to the Parking Deck Brochure for more information.

Belmont Road Station

Daily Parking is available south of the tracks in Lot K and north of the tracks in Lot J. The Belmont Train Station Parking Guide shows the locations and details the payment procedures for these lots.

Fairview Avenue Station

Daily metered parking is available north of the tracks, east of Fairview Ave, along Burlington Ave. and east of Florence Ave. Daily Parking is available as of March 31, 2014 south of the tracks, north of 2nd Street in Lot I. Please refer to the Commuter Parking Map for more information.

Commuters may also use the Pay by Phone option to pay for the metered spaces.

This option allows customers to bypass the pay stations and pay for their daily fee parking space by phone or via their mobile device. Fairview customers may use this option to pay for metered spaces, in lieu of coins. In addition to the $3.00 parking fee, there is a .50 service charge for each transaction.

Customers that wish to take advantage of this service need to register for an account by calling Passport Parking at 630-581-2445 or visit their website.

When prompted, enter the ZONE NUMBER posted on the green Pay by Phone sign, located near the pay station.

Twelve-Hour Meters

Meters accept quarters only. Each quarter registers one hour of time, up to 12 hours maximum. Meters must be fed Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The Commuter Parking Map shows the locations of the meters for each station.

Meter Payment by Cash Key

When a Cash Key is fully inserted into a meter, the meter displays the value remaining on the key, rounded to the nearest dollar. The first insertion also deducts $0.25. To register additional hours on the meter, re-insert the Cash Key.

NOTE: The Cash Key is being phased out as meters in commuter parking lots are replaced by on-site pay stations. Current key holders may continue to use their cash key until the remaining balance runs out or visit Village Hall for refund during business hours, M-F, 8:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m., Tuesdays until 7:00 p.m. Refunds will be honored until July 1, 2014.

Handicapped Accessible Parking

Please see the Commuter Parking Map for the location of handicapped accessible parking. Parking permits are not required, however, valid handicapped parking placards or license plates must be displayed.
