The Main Street, Belmont Road and Fairview Avenue train stations in Downers Grove provide Metra rail service from Aurora to Chicago.

Parking is available at all three stations through a combination of Permits, Daily Parking and Parking Meters.

Parking Holidays

The following annual dates are parking holidays. Parking in all permit lots, metered spaces and daily spaces is free.

  • Thanksgiving Day
  • Day after Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day

Permits

A valid permit must be displayed to park in commuter lots between 5:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. Please see the Commuter Parking Map for the location of the permit lots.

Parking is free in permit lots on weekdays after 11:00 a.m., weekends, and on parking holidays:.

Wait List

Due to a demand greater than the number of permit spaces available, the Village maintains a wait list. Commuters may place their names on one or more of the wait lists, however, only residents of incorporated Downers Grove may be added to the Main Street wait list. Please email parking@downers.us with your name, address, phone number and email address and indicate the list/s you would like to be on.

Daily Parking

Daily Parking Permits can be purchased for $3.00 at Village Hall (801 Burlington Avenue) or the Public Works Facility (5101 Walnut Avenue). These one-day permits are valid in all commuter lots and may purchased only on the day of use.

  • One-day permits for the Belmont Road Station may be purchased at the Public Works Facility, 5101 Walnut Ave., beginning at 8:15 a.m.
  • One-day permits for the Main Street and Fairview Avenue stations may be purchased at Village Hall, 801 Burlington Ave., beginning at 8:30 a.m. 

Main Street Station

  • The Parking Deck is located one block south of the Main Street Train Station, at the intersection of Curtiss Street and Mochel Drive. Daily parking spaces are located on Levels 3, 4 and 5 for $3.00, which can be paid at one of the automated pay stations on site. Spaces fill up quickly on weekday mornings, usually by 7:30 a.m. The Parking Deck is free after 3:00 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends and holidays.

Belmont Road Station

Daily parking is available south of the tracks in Lot K and north of the tracks in Lot J.

The Belmont Train Station Parking Guide shows the locations and details the payment procedures for these lots.  Parking is free in these lots after 3:00 p.m. on weekdays and all day on weekends. 

Fairview Avenue Station

Daily parking is available:

  • North of the tracks, east of Fairview Ave, along Burlington Ave. 
  • East of Florence Ave. 
  • North of 2nd Street in Lot I.

PAY BY PHONE

This option allows customers to bypass the pay stations and pay for their daily fee parking space by phone or via their mobile device.  Main Street customers may use this option to pay for metered spaces, in lieu of coins. In addition to the $3.00 parking fee,             there is a .50 service charge for each transaction.


Customers that wish to take advantage of this service need to register for an account by calling Passport Parking at 630-581-2445 or visit their website.

When prompted, enter the ZONE NUMBER posted on the green Pay by Phone sign, located near the pay station.

Parking Meters

Meters accept quarters only. Each quarter registers one hour of time, up to 12 hours maximum. Meters must be fed Monday through Saturday between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Handicapped Accessible Parking

Please see the Commuter Parking Map for the location of handicapped accessible parking. Parking permits are not required however, valid handicapped parking placards or license plates must be displayed.
